History
The department came into being in 1963 and used to run the Parts I and II of the City and
Guilds of London Institute science laboratory technology programme.Selected students are sent to U.K to complete the part III and after working for a prescribed number of years are awarded the Institute’s full technological certificate.
Under the defunct Department of Technical Education and Vocational Training (DTEVT) the programme was localized. Since then there has been a number of revisions of the programme and presently TEVETA is the national regulatory body responsible for certification, quality control and bench mark setting.
VISION FOR THE FUTURE
The department seek to be an established gateway and an integral part in a sustainable human resource development process in applied science, forging ties with local and overseas institutions and corroborating in research and exchange of ideas with renowned institutions both local and abroad which will culminate in attracting well qualified students in the sub region and from abroad.
