Radiography Programme
Nature of work
Medical Imaging Science involves the use of ionizing radiation (radiography), high frequency sound waves (ultrasound), and magnetic resonance to produce images of body structures. It applies basic sciences where biophysical principles in relation to radiation interaction with matter are studied. This is necessary to govern a wide range of approaches in the production of the required diagnostic images, leading to radiological diagnosis of disease.
The diploma in Radiography equips the candidate to effectively operate highly technical equipment, whilst applying acceptable interpersonal and caring skills to clients and other members of the health care team. The radiographers work in close relationship with clients of a wide range of attributes, beliefs, and age groups; thereby necessitating the appreciation of human psychological and sociological concepts among the student radiographers.
